Manual Twister 25  Hydro

First of all , Twister marine wants to thank you and wish you all the fun with building this hydro , and also we hope to provide you a good running hydro on the water . The Twister 25 hydro is a 5 point hydro , its running on its 2 front sponsons and its 2 rear sponsons and it can use the strutt as a 5th point , The Twister 25 is designed as a Gas hydro , it can work with the good old Zenoah 260 motor and the QD motors , but also the new motors like the M&D , the J&G and the RCMK motors will fit in the Twister . You can order a Twister hydro in 4 and 5 inch wide models . The 5 inch model has a tad more lift and will still perform in rough water and is a perfect oval racer , the 4 inch model is faster at flat water and will stick on the water , even with high speeds , still it can run like an oval racer in the turns , The building instructions for the 4 and 5 inch models are the same .

Twister 25 Kit

The Twister 25 comes in a kit form , you will recieve the long Tub allready built from wood , even the deck is glued in .Also the 2 Sponsons are completly built , they are out of wood and ready to sand . You will also receive a Epoxy cowl that will fit easy in the Tub . Since the parts are from wood , we advise you to handle the parts with care , its very easy to dent it ore make a scratch . To built the rigger you need the following materials :

Booms : these are the 2 long tubes that connect the sponsons with the tub .The booms are going trough the tub . most of the Booms are made from Carbon and hollow , best advise is to use booms that has an OD (outside diameter )from 15 mm and an ID (inside diameter ) from 12mm . the booms are 38 cm long , you need 2 of them . Furthermore you need 4 smaller pieces of carbon booms 15 cm long  , those are 12mm OD and 10 mm ID , these smaller booms need to be filled with 10mm OD round wood . these "pins "will be glued inside the 2 sponsons ,this will be desribed later in the manual .

Turnfin: The Twister Hydro needs a reference point to steer arround , every mono ore cat has a piece of their hull inside the water , this way it can use the rudder to steer the boat , a Hydro will run ON the water and will not have much boat to steer arround , we use a Turnfin on the right sponson and that fin is allways in the water and we can steer the boat arround the fin . On the Twister hydro we use a turnfin that has small bents in it so the curve is smooth . The Twister does not like a sharp angle fin like a sport hydro uses . good fins on the Twister are the Virginia craftman fins and those from CMDI .

Hardware:  The Twister hydro uses a Cat strut what you can adjust in height . these stutts are very common and available from CCracing ore speedmaster . The Twister 25 uses a FLAT bottom strutt , not a round bottom strutt . we need some lift at the back of the boat and the flat bottom strutt helps .we dont need a skeg under it . most rudders will work on the Twister , just make sure its not a tappered blade , but a straight one with a waterpick up in it . we need to mount the rudder all the way to the right , check you mountings on the rudder if thats possible . also we need a auto bailer in the back of the tub .

Electronics : we use 2 servo.s ;  a standard servo for the throttle and a strong standard size for the steering , most strong and reliable are the digital high torque servo.s that meets the standard size . further we use a 5 cell battery pack and a receiver , you can add a Power level indicator if you like . think about a failsafe aswell . later in the manual we will show you how to built and decorate de rc box .

Motor : The Twister 25 is built for all kids of gas motors . The Zenoah 260 is the most common motor , just like the QD and the J&G motors , every motor of that kind will fitt easy with motor mounts in the 5 inch model , even a new 26 cc CMB ore M&D will work , jut like the new RCMK rear exit motor . You need to pay attention in the 4 inch model , this is a messure twice cut once issue , the cowl is tight and you need to make adjustments on the stock Zenoah motor , we can use the most common motor mounts , but we need very small tight isolators (rubbers) so they will meet the 4 inch size . the M&D motor will fit perfect , since the carb is real close to the cilinder .

Small material : In the Twister 25 we use a IV bag as a fuel tank . a bag of 500 cc in the 5 inch model and a 250 cc for the 4 inch model .for cool water lines we use a big ID becouse the water has to trafic a long way to reach the cooling head .in the RC box we even use a 6 mm brass tube .  Further on we need all kinds bolts and nuts in different sizes . make sure they are Stainless ...
